Help

AT&T Voicemail Viewer makes it easier to stay on top of your voice messages and fax messages (if available) wherever you go. You can choose from several smartphone applications and web widgets or gadgets to access your AT&T Voicemail Viewer. To read specific instructions for installing and using AT&T Voicemail Viewer widgets, gadgets, and smartphone applications, choose your preferred access method below.


Before you use a widget, gadget, or application, you will need to be sure that you have first set-up your AT&T Unified Messaging SM or AT&T U-verse® Voicemail mailbox.

    AT&T Voicemail Viewer is available for the following devices:
    - iPhone 5s (iOS 7+)

    If you have separate work and home accounts for your AT&T Voicemail Viewer, you will need to download an app for each account. As an AT&T home phone service customer, the AT&T VM Viewer home app makes it easier to stay on top of your AT&T Unified Messaging SM voicemail messages and fax messages (if available) or your AT&T U-verse® Voicemail voice messages directly from your iPhone. For Business AT&T Unified Messaging customers that have been authorized for iPhone access, the VM Viewer work app provides a convenient way to manage your corporate voicemail messages. Similar to looking at messages in your email inbox, VM Viewer lists your messages, allowing you to choose the order in which you listen to them.

    Add the AT&T Voicemail Viewer App to Your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad
    - From your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad, go to the App Store. App Store
    - Search for AT&T Voicemail Viewer.
    - Sign in to the App Store, and download the application.

    You will be notified of updates through the App Store, whenever they become available.

    Use the AT&T Voicemail Viewer App from Your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad
    Launch the application by selecting the application icon from the springboard.

    Logging In
    You cannot log in to the app until the mailbox has been initialized. If your mailbox is not initialized, you will be asked to follow the instructions to initialize.

    Log into the app using your mailbox telephone number (your primary line or secondary landline telephone number) and PIN.

    If you use a sub or extension to the primary number, there are two ways you can log in:
    - Use the sub or extension number (Example: 4048141547-2).
    - Use the primary number, and then select the sub account or extension from the list.

    For your security, there is a limit to the number of login attempts allowed. If the limit is exceeded, access to your account through the iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad app and from the Web will be locked temporarily. You still will have access to your mailbox from your phone. Your mailbox will be unlocked automatically after a period of time.

    Viewing Your Message Inbox
    You will see the count of unread messages on the AT&T Voicemail Viewer app icon, so you can tell when new messages arrive. Note: the notification settings you have set for your account are separate from this notification you receive on your iPhone. Your inbox will show voice messages and fax messages (if available) in the order received. New messages are displayed in bold as soon as they arrive in your inbox. The total number of unread messages will be displayed at the top of the inbox.

    When you have requested confirmations for message delivery or message read, your inbox will show these confirmation messages. You will also receive messages when you have missed any reminders you requested.

    In the inbox, you can view the following message information for each message:
    - Date and time message was received
    - Sender information
    - Urgent indication Urgent, if present
    - Private indication Private, if present
    - Message duration for voicemail messages
    - Number of pages for fax messages
    - A wireless icon Wireless if the message was sent to one of your wireless lines

    Select the Refresh button to force a check for new messages between automatic updates.

    Viewing Details
    Touch the arrow button Arrow Button to the right of the message listing in the inbox to view details. From here, depending on the information that is available, you can mark the message as read or unread or forward as an email. Touch the From arrow button Arrow Button to view sender information. From here you can add to your contacts or you can send a text message. Sender details from your contacts will also appear on this screen (if available) and you can touch to communicate.

    When your mailbox is approaching capacity, a pop-up will alert you that the mailbox is nearly full or full.

    Listening to Your Messages
    Touch the screen to select a voice message and touch again to start playback. When you select a voicemail message, it will begin playing, and a message playback progress bar will appear, you can play, pause or stop message playback. There are buttons that allow you to Call Back the sender or Delete the message.

    To play the message using the iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad speaker, touch the speaker icon Speaker icon at the top right of the inbox screen.

    If the message is a fax, then selecting it and touching it again will cause the fax to open.

    Viewing Your Deleted Messages
    If you scroll down to the bottom of the inbox there is a link to the deleted messages folder 'Trash >'. Your deleted messages will show messages in the order they were received. Selecting a message will give you the option to delete the message permanently or restore the message.

    Changing Your Account Settings
    Touch the Settings icon Settings to view or edit your account settings:
    - View your account phone number.
    - Save your PIN on your iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad.
    - Set the number of voice messages to store on your device (0, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200). The default is 20 messages.

    The AT&T Voicemail Viewer application is available for the following BlackBerry smartphones with specified software versions (collectively, with the operating system, "OS"):

    AT&T Voicemail Viewer works only with wireless service from AT&T. Voicemail Viewer does not work with all BlackBerry devices or all software versions.

    Adding the AT&T Voicemail Viewer App to Your BlackBerry
    You can use AT&T Voicemail Viewer application for both home and work accounts. As an AT&T home phone service customer, the AT&T Voicemail Viewer app makes it easier to stay on top of your AT&T Unified MessagingSM voicemail messages and fax messages (if available) or your AT&T U-verse® Voicemail voice messages directly from your BlackBerry.     - Search for ATT Voicemail Viewer.
    - Sign in to the App World, and download the application.

    Launch the application by selecting the application icon.
    BlackBerry App
    Logging In
    You cannot log in to the app until the mailbox has been initialized. If your mailbox is not initialized, you will be asked to follow the instructions to initialize.

    Log into the app using your mailbox telephone number (your primary landline or secondary landline telephone number) and PIN.

    If you use a sub or extension to the primary number, there are two ways you can log in:
    - Use the sub or extension number (Example: 4048141547-2)
    - Enter the primary number, then select the "List secondary mailboxes" menu item. You will be prompted to enter the PIN for the primary mailbox, then your secondary mailboxes will be listed. Select the secondary mailbox you wish to use. The sub or extension number will then be filled in for you.

    Check the box if you want your login information remembered on your BlackBerry.

    For your security, there is a limit to the number of login attempts allowed. If the limit is exceeded, access to your account through the BlackBerry app and through the Web will be locked temporarily. You still will have access to your mailbox from your phone. Your mailbox will be unlocked automatically after a period of time.

    Viewing Your Message Inbox
    When new messages arrive in your inbox the application icon will change as shown below. Depending on the sound profile settings on your smartphone your phone may also beep or vibrate, or the LED may flash. Note: the notification settings you have set for your account are separate from this notification you receive on your BlackBerry.
    BlackBerry App Star
    Your inbox will show voice messages BlackBerry Voice Message and fax messages BlackBerry Fax (if available) in the order received. New messages are displayed in bold as soon as they arrive in your inbox.

    When you have requested confirmations for message delivery or message read, your inbox will show these confirmation messages. You will also receive messages when you have missed any reminders you requested.

    You can view the following message information for each message:
    - Date and time message received
    - Sender information
    - Urgent indication BlackBerry Urgent, if present

    When you select a message, you can use the menu to perform several actions:
    - Call the message sender
    - Send the sender a text message (SMS the sender)
    - Mark the message as unheard
    - Add the sender to your stored contacts
    - Delete the message
    - View deleted messages (if your mailbox saves deleted messages for a period before permanently deleting them, then this option shows all the deleted messages in a message list view).

    When your mailbox is approaching capacity, a pop-up will alert you that the mailbox is nearly full or full.

    Listening to Your Messages
    To listen to a message, select the message listing to open it, and then select the play button Play button. From this screen, you can play, pause, stop, and move forward and backward in the message using the progress bar. You can also listen to the previous or next message in the list.

    To play the message using the speaker, do one of the following:
    - Press the speaker key on the phone keyboard. Speaker icon
    - Press the menu button, select "Redirect audio" and choose from the list of options.

    If the message is a fax, then selecting it will cause the fax to download and view.

    Changing Your Account Settings
    From the application Options screen, you can do the following:
    - View and edit your account name(s).
    - View your account mailbox number(s).
    - Choose whether messages are stored on your SD card (use SD card, default yes).
    - Set up your message list so it won't refresh automatically when roaming. The default is always to refresh automatically, whether or not you are roaming.
    - Set up the number of voice messages to store on the phone (0, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200 - default is 20).
    - Request not to receive a confirmation when you delete a message. The default option requires the confirmation.

    Manual Checks
    You can manually check the following:
    - Check for application updates manually, without waiting for the automatic notification.
    - Refresh your message list manually, without waiting for the automatic refresh.

    Pressing the menu button on your handset provides further options to reply to or forward a message, to mark it as read or unread, and to save the sender's phone number to your Android contacts.

    If the message is a fax, then selecting it will cause the fax to download and view.

    Viewing Your Deleted Messages
    If you scroll down to the bottom of the inbox there is a link to the deleted messages folder "Deleted Items >". Your deleted messages will show messages in the order they were received. Selecting a message will give you the option to call back or to restore the message. To permanently delete a message, press the menu button on your handset and select "Delete".

    Enabling the AT&T Voicemail Viewer Widget on Your Home Screen
    From the home screen of your Android device, press the menu button on your handset, and then touch the "Add to Home" button. Select "Widget", and then "AT&T VM Viewer". Drag the widget to your chosen location on your home screen. This will then display a badge number showing your count of unread messages (if any), together with your newest unread message. Touching the widget will open the message within the AT&T Voicemail Viewer application.

    Changing Your Account Settings
    From the inbox, press the menu button on your handset and then touch the Settings icon Settings to view or edit your account settings:
    - View your account phone number, and configure a friendly name for the account.
    - Set the number of voice messages to store on your device (0, 10, 20, 50, 100). The default is 20 messages.
    - Configure notification settings.

    Adding Additional Accounts
    From the inbox, press the menu button on your handset and then touch the Accounts icon Settings to view or edit your configured accounts.

    To add an additional account, touch the "Add Account" button and log in with the phone number and PIN. To delete an account, press and hold the account, and then select "Remove Account".

    - Go to the Smartphone and Desktop Application web page, and select the Get It Now Home! or the Get It Now Work! button in the Windows Vista Sidebar section of the page.
    - When asked if you want to open or save this file, select the Open button.
    - When asked if you want to install this gadget, select the Install button.

    The AT&T Voicemail Viewer gadget will appear in your Vista Sidebar.

    Your inbox will show messages in the order received. New messages are displayed in bold as soon as they arrive in your mailbox. If you left click on the sender of a message, you can mark the message as heard/unheard for voice and read/unread for fax (if available), or delete it.

    To listen to your voice message, select the arrow button to the left of the message listing in the inbox Play button.

    Viewing Your Deleted Messages
    You can display your deleted messages by clicking on the deleted messages folder icon at the top left corner of the gadget. If you left click on the sender of a message you can restore the message, or permanently delete it.

    Changing Your Account Settings
    You can log in to your Account to manage mailbox features and options from the Windows Vista Sidebar gadget by selecting the icon at the top right of the inbox, and choosing "Go To AT&T Mailbox" from the drop down menu. You can also see information about the gadget and log out from this menu.

    Right click on the desktop and click 'Gadgets'. Double click the AT&T Voicemail Viewer gadget to add it to your desktop.

    You can log in to your Account to manage mailbox features and options from the Windows 7 Desktop gadget by selecting the icon at the top right of the inbox, and choosing "Go To AT&T Mailbox" from the drop down menu. You can also see information about the gadget and log out from this menu.

    Mac OS X Dashboard

    Add AT&T Voicemail Viewer Widget to your Mac OS X Dashboard

    If you have separate work and home accounts for your AT&T Voicemail Viewer, you will need to download a widget for each account.
    - Using Firefox or Safari from the Personal Smartphone and Desktop Application web page, select the Get It Now Home! or the Get It Now Work! button for Mac OS X Dashboard.
    - If you see a pop-up window asking if you want to open using the Dashboard, select the Install button.
    The AT&T Voicemail Viewer widget will appear on your Mac OS X Dashboard.

    Voicemail playback

    You can also delete or close the message from this screen.

    You can view the following message information from the message inbox:
    - Date and time of message received
    - Message duration for voice messages
    - Number of pages for fax messages (if available)
    - Sender information
    - Urgent indication Urgent, if present
    - Private indication Private, if present
    - A wireless icon Wireless or wireline icon Wireline if the message was sent to one of your wireless or wireline lines

    If the message is a fax, then selecting it will cause the fax to open.

    Viewing Your Deleted Messages
    You can display your deleted messages by clicking on the deleted messages folder icon at the top left corner of the widget. If you left click on the sender of a message you can restore the message, or permanently delete it.

    Changing Your Account Settings
    You can log in to your Account to manage mailbox features and options from the Mac OS X Dashboard widget by selecting the icon at the top right of the inbox, and choosing "Go To AT&T Mailbox" from the drop down menu. You can also see information about the widget and log out from this menu.
